About Mrs. D

Hello!

Below is a brief introduction of myself as it pertains to the classroom. My husband is active duty in the Navy and is currently in Washington State finishing out his enlistment along with my almost five year old son, Apollo.  We also have two pet dogs (female boxer-lab mix and a male shepherd-pomeranian mix) and a pet snake (black racer) and they are currently living here with me. I run my own online personal training company, I teach at a local college and am working on my ACT tutor certification as well as creating udemy courses and getting my group fitness instructor certification and this spring break I am hoping to become a certified white water rafting guide through the Nantahala Outdoor Center in North Carolina.

I am a member of the Professional Association of Georgia Educators, the National Council of Teachers of English, the College English Association, and the Cultural Studies Association and I  have presented and been the chair speaker at the Cultural Studies Association Annual conference. I have volunteered at an exotic animal wildlife rescue specializing in sloths and reptiles, while also working with birds, gators, wolves, anteaters, monkeys, kinkajous, armadillos, turtles, skunks, foxes and coatimuni. I currently possess a Master of Arts degree in English with an emphasis on Rhetoric and the Teaching of Writing from Northern Arizona University , a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Secondary Education with a minor in Gender Studies from Columbus State University and I am working on becoming special education certified.
